Surah Al-Ma'idah Ayah 5 (5:5)

Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibât [all kinds of Halâl (lawful) foods, which Allâh has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits)]. The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them. (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time when you have given their due Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), desiring chastity (i.e. taking them in legal wedlock) not committing illegal sexual intercourse, nor taking them as girl-friends. And whosoever disbelieves in Faith [i.e. in the Oneness of Allâh and in all the other Articles of Faith i.e. His (Allâh’s) Angels, His Holy Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)], then fruitless is his work; and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

This day are (all) good things made lawful for you. The food of those who have received the Scripture is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them. And so are the virtuous women of the believers and the virtuous women of those who received the Scripture before you (lawful for you) when ye give them their marriage portions and live with them in honour, not in fornication, nor taking them as secret concubines. Whoso denieth the faith, his work is vain and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter

This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good)

کل پاکیزه چیزیں آج تمہارے لئے حلال کی گئیں اور اہل کتاب کا ذبیحہ تمہارے لئے حلال ہے اور تمہارا ذبیحہ ان کے لئے حلال ہے، اور پاک دامن مسلمان عورتیں اور جو لوگ تم سے پہلے کتاب دیئے گئے ہیں ان کی پاک دامن عورتیں بھی حلال ہیں جب کہ تم ان کے مہر ادا کرو، اس طرح کہ تم ان سے باقاعده نکاح کرو یہ نہیں کہ علانیہ زنا کرو یا پوشیده بدکاری کرو، منکرین ایمان کے اعمال ضائع اور اکارت ہیں اور آخرت میں وه ہارنے والوں میں سے ہیں۔

Pada hari ini dihalalkan bagimu segala yang baik-baik. Makanan (sembelihan) Ahli Kitab itu halal bagimu, dan makananmu halal bagi mereka. Dan (dihalalkan bagimu menikahi) perempuan-perempuan yang menjaga kehormatan di antara perempuan-perempuan yang beriman dan perempuan-perempuan yang menjaga kehormatan di antara orang-orang yang diberi kitab sebelum kamu, apabila kamu membayar maskawin mereka untuk menikahinya, tidak dengan maksud berzina dan bukan untuk menjadikan perempuan piaraan. Barang siapa kafir setelah beriman maka sungguh, sia-sia amal mereka dan di akhirat dia termasuk orang-orang yang rugi.

আজ তোমাদের জন্য সমস্ত ভালো জিনিস হালাল করা হল ও যাদেরকে কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছে তাদের খাদ্যদ্রব্য তোমাদের জন্য হালাল এবং তোমাদের খাদ্যদ্রব্য তাদের জন্য বৈধ। আর মুমিন সচ্চরিত্রা নারী ও তোমাদের আগে যাদেরকে কিতাব দেয়া হয়েছে তাদের সচ্চরিত্রা নারীদেরকে তোমাদের জন্য বৈধ করা হল যদি তোমরা তাদের মাহর প্রদান কর বিয়ের জন্য, প্রকাশ্য ব্যভিচার বা গোপন প্রণয়িনী গ্রহণকারী হিসেবে নয়। আর কেউ ঈমানের সাথে কুফরী করলে তার কর্ম অবশ্যই নিস্ফল হবে এবং সে আখেরাতে ক্ষীতগ্রস্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হবে।
