Surah Yusuf Ayah 40 (12:40)

"You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged) - you and your fathers - for which Allâh has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allâh. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism); that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not.

Those whom ye worship beside Him are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers. Allah hath revealed no sanction for them. The decision rests with Allah only, Who hath commanded you that ye worship none save Him. This is the right religion, but most men know not

If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not

اس کے سوا تم جن کی پوجا پاٹ کر رہے ہو وه سب نام ہی نام ہیں جو تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادوں نے خود ہی گھڑ لئے ہیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کی کوئی دلیل نازل نہیں فرمائی ، فرمانروائی صرف اللہ تعالیٰ ہی کی ہے، اس کا فرمان ہے کہ تم سب سوائے اس کے کسی اور کی عبادت نہ کرو، یہی دین درستہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے.

Apa yang kamu sembah selain Dia, hanyalah nama-nama yang kamu buat-buat, baik oleh kamu sendiri maupun oleh nenek moyangmu. Allah tidak menurunkan suatu keterangan pun tentang hal (nama-nama) itu. Keputusan itu hanyalah milik Allah. Dia telah memerintahkan agar kamu tidak menyembah selain Dia. Itulah agama yang lurus, tetapi kebanyakan manusia tidak mengetahui.

‘তাঁকে ছেড়ে তোমরা শুধু কতগুলো নামের ‘ইবাদাত করছ, যে নামগুলো তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষ ও তোমরা রেখেছ; এগুলোর কোনো প্রমাণ আল্লাহ্‌ পাঠাননি। বিধান দেয়ার অধিকার শুধু আল্লাহ্‌রই। তিনি নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন শুধু তাঁকে ছাড়া অন্য কারো ‘ইবাদাত না করতে, এটাই শাশ্বত দীন কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ এটা জানে না।
