Surah Ali 'Imran Ayah 154 (3:154)

Then after the distress, He sent down security for you. Slumber overtook a party of you, while another party was thinking about themselves (as how to save their ownselves, ignoring the others and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) and thought wrongly of Allâh - the thought of ignorance. They said, "Have we any part in the affair?" Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Indeed the affair belongs wholly to Allâh." They hide within themselves what they dare not reveal to you, saying: "If we had anything to do with the affair, none of us would have been killed here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death," but that Allâh might test what is in your breasts; and to purify that which was in your hearts (sins), and Allâh is All-Knower of what is in (your) breasts.

Then, after grief, He sent down security for you. As slumber did it overcome a party of you, while (the other) party, who were anxious on their own account, thought wrongly of Allah, the thought of ignorance. They said: Have we any part in the cause? Say (O Muhammad): The cause belongeth wholly to Allah. They hide within themselves (a thought) which they reveal not unto thee, saying: Had we had any part in the cause we should not have been slain here. Say: Even though ye had been in your houses, those appointed to be slain would have gone forth to the places where they were to lie. (All this hath been) in order that Allah might try what is in your breasts and prove what is in your hearts. Allah is Aware of what is hidden in the breasts (of men)

After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts

پھر اس نے اس غم کے بعد تم پر امن نازل فرمایا اور تم میں سے ایک جماعت کو امن کی نیند آنے لگی ۔ ہاں کچھ وه لوگ بھی تھے کہ انہیں اپنی جانوں کی پڑی ہوئی تھی، وه اللہ تعالیٰ کے ساتھ ناحق جہالت بھری بدگمانیاں کر رہے تھے اور کہتے تھے کیا ہمیں بھی کسی چیز کا اختیار ہے؟ آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کام کل کا کل اللہ کے اختیار میں ہے، یہ لوگ اپنے دلوں کے بھید آپ کو نہیں بتاتے، کہتے ہیں کہ اگر ہمیں کچھ بھی اختیار ہوتا تو یہاں قتل نہ کئے جاتے۔ آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ گو تم اپنے گھروں میں ہوتے پھر بھی جن کی قسمت میں قتل ہونا تھا وه تو مقتل کی طرف چل کھڑے ہوتے، اللہ تعالیٰ کو تمہارے سینوں کے اندر کی چیز کا آزمانا اور جو کچھ تمہارے دلوں میں ہے، اس کو پاک کرنا تھا، اور اللہ تعالی سینوں کے بھید سے آگاه ہے.

Kemudian setelah kamu ditimpa kesedihan, Dia menurunkan rasa aman kepadamu (berupa) kantuk yang meliputi segolongan dari kamu, sedangkan segolongan lagi telah dicemaskan oleh diri mereka sendiri; mereka menyangka yang tidak benar terhadap Allah seperti sangkaan jahiliah. Mereka berkata, "Adakah sesuatu yang dapat kita perbuat dalam urusan ini?" Katakanlah (Muhammad), "Sesungguhnya segala urusan itu di tangan Allah." Mereka menyembunyikan dalam hatinya apa yang tidak mereka terangkan kepadamu. Mereka berkata, "Sekiranya ada sesuatu yang dapat kita perbuat dalam urusan ini, niscaya kita tidak akan dibunuh (dikalahkan) di sini." Katakanlah (Muhammad), "Meskipun kamu ada di rumahmu, niscaya orang-orang yang telah ditetapkan akan mati terbunuh itu keluar (juga) ke tempat mereka terbunuh." Allah (berbuat demikian) untuk menguji apa yang ada dalam dadamu dan untuk membersihkan apa yang ada dalam hatimu. Dan Allah Maha Mengetahui isi hati.

তারপর দুঃখের পর তিনি তোমাদেরকে প্রদান করলেন তন্দ্রারূপে প্রশান্তি, যা তোমাদের একদলকে আচ্ছন্ন করেছিল এবং একদল জাহিলী যুগের অজ্ঞের ন্যায় আল্লাহ সম্বন্ধে অবাস্তব ধারণা করে নিজেরাই নিজেদেরকে উদ্বিগ্ন করেছিল এ বলে যে, ‘আমাদের কি কোন কিছু করার আছে?’ বলুন, ‘সব বিষয় আল্লাহ্‌রই ইখতিয়ারে’। যা তারা আপনার কাছে প্রকাশ করে না, তারা তাদের অন্তরে সেগুলো গোপন রাখে। তারা বলে, ‘এ ব্যাপারে আমাদের কোনো কিছু করার থাকলে আমরা এখানে নিহত হতাম না।’ বলুন, ‘যদি তোমরা তোমাদের ঘরে অবস্থান করতে তবুও নিহত হওয়া যাদের জন্য অবধারিত ছিল তারা নিজেদের মৃত্যুস্থানে বের হত। এটা এজন্যে যে, আল্লাহ তোমাদের অন্তরে যা আছে তা পরীক্ষা করেন এবং তোমাদের মনে যা আছে তা পরিশোধন করেন। আর অন্তরে যা আছে সে সম্পর্কে আল্লাহ বিশেষভাবে অবগত।
